The intelligence moves, your data doesn’t: private AI in practice
Most AI services ask you to send your data to them. Private AI reverses the direction: the models come to your environment and the data stays where it is. Here is what that looks like in practice.
For finance, audit and legal teams, the most valuable data is also the most sensitive: ledgers, payments, contracts, investigations. Sending it to an outside service to be analysed is often not allowed, and rarely comfortable.
Private AI starts from the opposite assumption. The data stays where it is. The intelligence moves to it.
What "private" should mean
- Runs in your environment. The models and the software run in your cloud account or data centre.
- No training on your data. Your data improves your results, not someone else’s model.
- Your keys, your logs. You control encryption, access and the audit trail.
- Read-only by default. The system reads from your ERP and other sources; it doesn't change them.
How it works in practice
- Deploy into your environment. The platform is installed in your cloud tenancy or on your servers, inside your network rules.
- Connect read-only. Connectors extract data from the ERP, banks and documents into a store you own.
- Bring the models. Tests, machine-learning models and language models run next to the data.
- Share results, not data. Findings, values and evidence are shown to the people who need them, under your access rules.
The trade-offs, honestly
Running privately takes more set-up than signing up for a public service. It needs a place to run, some infrastructure work and agreement from your IT and security teams. In return you avoid the data transfer, the privacy review of a third party and the question of what happens to your data later.
For many of our clients, that trade is the only one their policies allow.
Where CoSaaS fits
One of the principles behind CoSaaS is that the intelligence moves and your data doesn’t. See how the ALTeX Hub platform is deployed, and the controls described on security. For legal documents in particular, read Private Gen AI for legal teams.
